Idle control valve
hi all i have finally come to the experts hoping u guys can help me in my problem
i have owned a punto gt for about 5 months now as a project to restore as some 1 took nitromorse to it stripping all the paint down.
right my question is??????????
i go to the car as go to start it up and when i turn the key it fires up but then dyes . the only way i can keep it running is with revs over 3000 if i take my foot off the throttle it just dyes.
i have changed the lambda sensor.
crankshaft position sensor.
spark plugs
ht leads
ill try the coil pack next as i have found a place selling them at 56 quid.
is there anything else i could try????
info about the car.

k&n air filter
manifold > cat > straight through exhaust.
so please help me
Idle control valve
i changed that already and its now making a buzzing sound dont know if that normal or not?
Air flow meter, did it twice to mine
afm almost with out a boubt
gotta be afm without a doubt i had same problem changed afm then perfect
its definatley AFM..
Check your battery as well, you would be amazed what a dead cell can cause problem wise.
everytime i start the car it wont idle it just dies unless it is warm, then when it ticks over it revs itself up to 2000rmp and drops back down to 750rpm.
there is also a reasonable amount of light blue smoke coming out of the exhaust when the car is reved. i have already changed the throtle position sensor, air flow meter and made sure the ignition leads are in the right order.
any ideas on how to fix this ???
You should have been able to find answers by a Search Forum in the Mk. 1 Turbocharged Engines and Exhaust section or FAQs but...
Cold start problem probably = Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) problem.
Poor idle, when warm, probably = Idle Control Valve (ICV) may need cleaning or even replacing.
