if you genuinely do want to save up for a better car, then get something like a punto jtd, reliable, cheap and will give 40mpg round town and 50 on a run, and a £200 remap will make it 130bhp (they are quick!)
you wont save with a gt, they drink fuel and need heavy maintanince.
i paid less than what you've got yours up for, for my 330, was standard then but it is a 330 and a proper sport, so you can get them cheap if you shop around- oh and that was 12 months ago now too.
my 330's obc says i get average 16mpg (round town with heavy foot) on a run it will get 35+. they are great to drive too, not being harsh lol, but i work with bmw's and when i have to drive a 318, i think oh for **** sake, bloody things feel like the engines seriously broken take a 330 for a spin and you will be impressed im sure.
I'm only after a GT as i've always wanted one and they're cheap to buy. I've driven a 330 before and they are 10x better than the 318's lol
Ideally i want a facelift model so will need 6k + easy ... thats why i'm going to save for a year or so. I know what you mean though Beau i won't be able to save much with a GT but over the next year i will be getting a pay rise as i qualify my apprenticeship.
Now on ebay and price dropped:

SOLD!!! .... Finally lol
Now i must resist spending loads on the GT!! Wish me luck.
thats good news: mines going up for sale soon.
need something which will cost less to run, i put £78 in it on friday night, by monday i was on empty again, only went about southend and over to blue water and back, averaging atm is 16.2MPG
orange punto should be done by june, iv got all the parts now, just need to sort out getting it done.
Yeah it is good news Beau, most of the cash will be going towards a 320cd sport in a year or two. What you replacing yours with then?
