    my new toy YZR500!!!!

A project to pass the time for Old Me

    I'll need these...

    To do this

A 1/12th scale model of a full factory works Yamaha YZR500 2-stroke 'motoGP' bike, in British double world champion and all round ****ing Legend Barry Sheene Liverally, Barry Sheene is one of my idols so grabbed this one when i saw it in the model shop as its an older one they dont make anymore, not done a model bike for about 3-4years.... anyway, ill carry on geeking it up

bits of the engine, its good you have to go into so much detail despite only tiny parts of the engine on show behind the faring

engine and hlf done with the throttles/carbs

    swingarm

i sprayed the 3 parts of the frame before gluing, then gave it another two coats after being glued

Tamiya stuff rules, I used to be well into my scale modelling, but don't seem to have the time these days, to get a decent end product it's surprising how many hours you need to put into these things, looks pretty good work mate, what did you use to get the 'carbon' finish on the cans? Just a flat black? If you've got an airbrush you can be really geeky and spray through some old mesh to get the carbon fibre effect pattern on top of the flat black, then just a quick blast of clear to finish it off!

Yeah ive only done Tamiya bikes, i have done a Rossi 2004 YZF-M1 too.

Looking at doing some military stuff next maybe, i want to do the Kawasaki ZX-RR motoGP bike but neither the model shop in Leeds or Notts has the lime green spray paint needed, and the staff are all mongols!
